It refers to Department of Posts deciding to honour confectioner from West Bengal late Navin Chandra Das through a special cover for his having created the famous sweet dish Rasgulla about 150 years ago.
With present Union government having rightly decided to honour common-most achievers from ground level with Padma awards, Department of Posts should also follow the same by honouring Navin Chandra Das by issuing a commemorative postal-stamp rather than simply issuing a cover. Instead of practice of issuing only covers should be discontinued, and more and more commemorative stamps on various events and personalities. Print-order for commemorative postal-stamps should be higher so that stamps of definitive series in commonly used denominations may not be required to be printed, and instead commemorative stamps only should be sold in commonly used denominations.
