SrinagarScores of students drawn from various polytechnic colleges across the valley debated on the impact of social media on youth in the jam-packed auditorium of the Government Womens Polytechnic College Bemina here on Saturday.
The young participants highlighted both the advantages and the flipside of social media in practice such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and other such internet-based platforms.
Principal Shafquat Ara, in her thanksgiving note, said the first of its kind event is a prelude to many such programs in the pipeline.
Some 20 students spoke on the occasion amidst a strong audience of around 300 students and teachers from all the polytechnic colleges of the valley.
The first two positions were bagged by Zanobia Deva and Iqra Manzoor of Srinagar while the third position went to Sadiya of Budgam.
The jury members included Mr. Farooq Shah, Managing Editor Kashmir Observer, Mr. Arshad Hussain Kaloo, Executive Editor Greater Kashmir, Dr. Nasheman Ashraf, Scientist, I.I.I.M Sanatnagar, Srinagar and Ms. Hina Qadri, NSS Officer, Govt. College for Women, M.A Road, Srinagar.
