SrinagarThe opening ceremony of Manasbal Soccer League was held Saturday at Sainik School Mansbal sports ground, a statement from Jammu and Kashmir Polices media department said. The tournament is being organised by Ganderbal Police.
The aim of the tournament, according to the statement, is strengthen a relation between police and youth of the district.
The tournament was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, Piyush Singla and Senior Superintendent of Police Ganderbal Fayaz Ahmed Lone.
The statement added that Ganderbal Police recently granted amnesty to 176 youth of the district involved in stone pelting cases in the unrest of 2016 and 2017.
Building upon its message for youth to come forward and invest their energies in productive activities, a soccer tournament is being organised by Ganderbal police, the statement read.
Eight teams are battling for the title glory with FC Lar playing the opening game with FC Safapora.
ASP Ganderbal Fayaz Hussain, ASP Hqrs Utkarsh Duggal, DySP Ganderbal Ashaq Hussain, Principal Sainik school Manasbal Nazir Ahmad and other police officers were present on the occasion.
