SrinagarJ&K State Commission for Women (SWC) Monday introduced a helpline number for the women folk who face harassment or molestation or are subjected to domestic violence at home.
Talking to KNS correspondent, Mohammad Lateef Bhat, SWC chairperson Nayeema Ahmad Mehjoor while calling for protection of women rights said they have introduced a helpline number 7889799509 for women to lodge a formal complaint if they face any kind of violence at home, office or at any other place.
We have kept this number exclusively for women to text, WhatsApp, message or give a missed call. The Commission will contact hem soon and will take help of police or any other department if and when needed, she told KNS.
Mahjoor said they are also working to introduce a toll-free number which will be made operation sooner than later.
She appealed people to share the message with more and more people and emphasized upon widespread dissemination of information regarding Central and State government schemes for welfare of women folk.
Mehjoor also said a proposal for formation of temporary shelters and toll free 24*7 helpline for women victims, is under active consideration of Government.
