SrinagarSrinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC), Commissioner, Riyaz Wani on Friday took stock of the preparedness in the wake of forecast of snowfall.
The Commissioner reviewed the arrangements made for snow clearance. He expressed satisfaction over adequate preparedness.
The SMC has put men and machinery including six sucker machines and dewatering pumps for water logged areas on a standby to tackle any situation arising out of the snowfall, including dewatering.
Around 4,000 officials will be pressed into service for manual clearance. Besides, 16 loaders and 04 JCBs will be made available for clearance of lanes and by-lanes.
The review meeting was attended by all concerned officers of the SMC.
The meeting decided to set up a Snow Control room, headed by Secretary of the Srinagar Municipal Corporation. Besides, a sub-control room will be headed by Chief Sanitation Officer of the Srinagar Municipal Corporation.
