Lahore Jamaatud Dawa chief Hafiz Saeed, who was recently released from house arrest, on Saturday announced to take part in the general elections 2018 on the National Assembly seat.
Talking to media, Saeed said that he would contest the election on the platform of the Milli Muslim League (MML), but he did not disclose anything about the constituency.
In August, the JuD entered politics by forming a new party, MML. Saifullah Khalid, a religious scholar and longtime official of the group, is president of the party.
Khalid said that the party will work to make Pakistan a real Islamic and welfare state and that it is ready to cooperate with like-minded parties.
