SrinagarA 72-year-old woman has become the latest victim of swine flu in Kashmir, taking the death toll due to the disease this winter in the valley to eight, officials said on Saturday.
A 72-year-old female patient has expired and with it, the total number of swine flu-related deaths has reached eight, a spokesman of Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) hospital said.
The spokesman said the patient tested positive for H1N1 virus and was “associated with comorbidities Carcinoma Esophagus with sepsis”.
SKIMS has treated a total of 45 cases so far out of which 23 patients have been discharged after treatment, the spokesman said.
“14 patients are currently admitted in the hospital and they are being treated upon,” the spokesman said.
