Srinagar—Expressing “shock and grief” over the militant killings, octogenarian ailing Hurriyat leader, Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Monday termed the killing of 190 militants this year a ‘national tragedy’.

“This shows that the authorities are ruling “through their military might” in Kashmir,” Geelani said in a press statement.

“It is synonymous to the fact that they are carrying the occupation through their military might and added that people while resisting unconstitutional and illegal occupation, have since past 71 years presented more than 6 lakh souls.”

He said that India has waged a war on innocent civilians in the Valley.

Geelani said that the youth sacrificing their precious lives “are nourishing a sacred cause with their blood”.

He appealed to the people asked to safeguard their sacrifices and stay away from those “strengthening forced and illegal occupation.”

Geelani also paid his glorious tributes to Ali Kadal martyrs and said: “We are duty bound to follow their mission till its logical end.”
