Srinagar-Former Chief Minister of Jammu & Kashmir, Farooq Abdullah, Saturday said Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) belongs to Pakistan re-igniting the debate over Kashmir occupancy.
Farooq said that those supporting India should stop talking about “azadi” as PoK never belonged to India. Calling the freedom seekers misguided, he said that Indian side needs more autonomy. He said, “Internal autonomy is our right. They should restore it. Only then the peace will return.”
Talking to the reporters, Farooq said, “Pakistan Administered Kashmir belongs to Pakistan and this side to India. I tell this to them, and to the world. This is not going to change. Let them fight how many wars they want to.”
Addressing the media at the National Conference headquarters in Srinagar, he established, “There is nothing like freedom here. We are landlocked. On one side we have China, Pakistan and India on the other side. All three of them have atom bombs. We have nothing except Allahs name. Those who are talking about Azadi are wrong.”
Causing an uproar about how India betrayed Kashmir, Abdullah said, “India betrayed us. They didnt recognize the love with which we chose to join them. That is the reason behind the current situation in Kashmir.” He also directed that while the state is facing unrest in the Valley, India is not contributing much towards peace.
Dr Farooq Absurd, Non-Serious: Malik
Chairman of Jammu Kashmir liberation front (JKLF) Muhammad Yasin Malik Saturday ridiculed the statement made by former chief minister Dr Farooq Abdullah against freedom of Jammu Kashmir.
Farooq Abdullah has always played non-serious and selfish politics. Kashmiris never take his words and personality seriously, Malik said in a press statement.
Terming the statement of Farooq Abdullah as absurd and non-serious, Malik said that to remain in news Farooq Abdullah always issues controversial statements like these but people of Jammu Kashmir are fully aware of his irresponsible character, his non-seriousness and the level to which he can stoop down for his selfish gains and because of these facts no one takes his statements seriously.
JKLF chairman said that in fact Farooq Abdullah and his late Father has been doing politics in the name of freedom of Kashmir for a long time and it was he who in 1974 from Lal Chowk Srinagar floated the slogan of Choen Daish Mouen Daish Kashur Daish Kashur Daish (Your nation my nation is Kashmiri nation Kashmiri nation) and even participated in pro-freedom rallies in Mirpur Azad Kashmir, But afterwards these very people for their lust of power and for serving their own selfish benefits shunned the path of freedom, sacrificed the interests of Kashmiris and till date are with their full family enjoying the fruits of petty power and authority.
Rejecting the idea of autonomy for Jammu Kashmir, Malik said that Kashmiris have not sacrificed thousands of lives for a fragile, absurd and ridiculous autonomy under which a prime minster of time who luckily was Farooq Abdullah sahibs own father was handcuffed by an ordinary police man and thrown into jail for 11 long years.
Advising Farooq Abdullah to shun his political joker like approach and assume some seriousness, Malik said that resistance against illegal Indian occupation will continue till the achievement of the desired goal.
