Buchwara Residents protest against liquor shops

Srinagar—Buoyed by the success of forcing Airport Authority of India (AAI) to drop its plan to set up a liquor shop at Srinagar International Airport, residents of Buchwara on Friday took out a procession to lodge a protest against the running of a wine shop inside a hotel in the locality.

Soon after the Friday prayers ended, a large number of people assembled outside a local mosque and marched in a procession towards the hotel, where they staged a sit in demanding closure of the wine shop.

A police party reached the spot to pacify the agitators. They dispersed peacefully after police assured them that they will take up the matter with the authorities.
