SrinagarMilitants showed their presence once again in South Kashmir when they carried out two attacks on police in Kulgam and Anantnag districts.
A police official said that suspected militants fired upon a police vehicle in Bungam area of Qazigund, creating panic in the area.
The official said that there was report of any injuries or casualties. He said the area has been cordoned off and a search operation was launched to nab the militants.
Suspected militants Friday evening opened fire on a police post in Main Town of Anantnag district in south Kashmir.
A police official said that suspected militants fired upon police post Bus Stand in Anantnag Town which was retaliated ‘effectively’ by cops there.
“The attack was repulsed and there was no injury or loss of life on our side, the official said, adding that whole area has been cordoned off and searches have been launched to nab the attackers.
No militant outfit claimed responsibility for these attacks
Meanwhile, a security guard posted at Police Lines Awantipora fired couple of shots in air after he allegedly observed some suspicious movement.
Sources said that a Sentry posted at Police Lines Awantipora area of South Kashmirs Pulwama district resorted to aerial firing creating panic inside the Police Lines.
A police said the incident occurred at 3:15 of Friday morning. The security guard had observed some suspicious movement outside police lines and subsequently he fired some warning shots in air, he said.
Government Forces searched the area, however, nothing suspicious was found, the police official added.
