Masarat Alam Released, Rearrested

Srinagar—Police on Friday evening rearrested Hurriyat Conference (G) secretary general (III) Masarat Alam outside the Kotbhalwal jail soon after he was released by the jail authorities, sources said.

“The Kotbalwal jail authorities released Masarat Alam from Kotbalwal jail after PSA quash order was produced before the,”  said sources in Muslim League. “However, an unknown police party came and rearrested Alam and whisked him away to an unknown place.”

The J&K High Court on last week had quashed 35th detention order of Alam under Public Safety Act (PSA).

Alam is chief of Muslim League which is a constituent of Syed Ali Geelani led Hurriyat Conference.
