SrinagarDays after appointed as Secretary Tourism Sarmad Hafeez Friday said the tourism department is open to the idea about the marketing of Kashmir tourism, stating that this winter they are organising a series of events at various places.
Speaking to KNS in an exclusive conversation, Hafeez said Kashmir is a safe place to visit, but some media channels portrayed it in negativity, but they would try to create some positive vibes.
We cant control media or some news channels. We can give positive stories to send a message across the county and globe that Kashmir is a safe place to visit. Kashmiris are very hospitable people. This is a trademark of Kashmiris and also written in books about our hospitality, he said.
Hafeez said they are also planning to organise a series of sports events at various places including Srinagar. Kashmir has a diverse beauty. Your Zabarwan is different in winters and summers. We will try to get lifted the travel advisory issued by some countries, he said,
The Secretary tourism said that they would improve the services and would provide training facility to hoteliers and other people related to tourism. Now we need to showcase our hospitality which is our trademark. It is legendary written in books also, he said.
He said Gulmarg has oldest churches which is some 120 years old. We are planning some activities about that as well, he added. (KNS)
