Amir, Rafiq reach finals of Badminton event

Srinagar—In the ongoing Sports Festival organized by Jammu and Kashmir Police in Ganderbal, Football, Volleyball and Badminton matches were played on the third day at Sainik School Manasbal and Government College of Physical Education premises, a statement from media department of Jammu and Kashmir Police said on Friday.

In football event three matches were played  with FC Arampora beat FC Kangan by 7-5 in a penalty shootout. FC Soccer Star beat FC Checkpora 2-0 while FC Lar had better off  FC Rahima 2-1.

Pathan Warriors , College Guys Kachan,  VB Dreamland and Maqsood Club emerged as the winners in their respective fixtures in the volleyball event.

The quarter and semi-final stages in Badminton men’s singles segment were held in Government College of Physical Education, Ganderbal premises. Mohd Rafiq beat Ibrahim Qureshi 2-0 in the straight sets in the first semis and will meet Amir Bashir in the finals who overpowered Mohammad Amin 2-1 in the second semi-finals.
