SrinagarThe students of University of Kashmir on Monday held a massive protest demonstration in the varsity campus to observe October 27 black day today.
Pertinently, the University had shut on Oct 27 since the resistance leaders had called for a shutdown to observe black day against the landing of Indian forces in Kashmir on the same day in 1947.
A varsity student told reporters that, We could not protest on October 27 since we couldnt make it to the varsity that day due to shutdown call by our leaders.
He said the students of various departments today assembled in the varsity and marched through the campus rising anti-India and pro-freedom slogans demanding an end to the military occupation of Kashmir.
We want to reiterate upon the world leadership that Jammu and Kashmir is being militarily occupied by India and the people of Jammu and Kashmir want the occupation to end.
The protests were organised by Kashmir University Students Union which termed October 27,1947 A day of invasion occupation and aggression of Jammu and Kashmir by India.
However students of KU named the central library square as Geelani Square. We want to reiterate upon the world leadership that Jammu and Kashmir is being militarily occupied by India and the people of Jammu and Kashmir want the occupation to end, one of the protesting students said.
