SrinagarIn yet another example of communal harmony, Muslims Friday at Wanpoh village of Anantnag performed the last rites of a Kashmiri Hindu man and prominent teacher Pandit Trilokinath.
The family had refused to leave and set faith in their neighbours after most of the members of their community migrated to Jammu and other parts of India during the 1990s.
Large number of Muslims participated in his last rites. MLA Homeshalibugh Abdul Majid Larmi, former minister Abdul Gafar Sofi, ACR Anantnag Syed Shabir, Tehsildar Syed Abid and large number of youth participated in the last rites of Trilokinath.
It is a message for those who want to create communal tension here. We are one and we live in mutual harmony here, participants at the funeral said.
They said the Wanpoh village has been always symbol of Kashmiriyat.
Pandit Trilokinath is survived by wife Sharika Devi, two sons Rakesh and Bantu, and a daughter Binti.
