SrinagarPeople of Sonawari segment of Bandipora district here in north Kashmir decry over the dilapidated roads, unscheduled power cuts, erratic water Supply, shortage of medicines in hospitals and lack of advanced medical infrastructure.
The locals say they have been facing immense hardships due to the non-availability of basic amenities. The Inhabitants said the Sonawari segment has been ignored by all the previous regimes since 90s.
They allege that the local MLAs approach towards the constituency is negligent that has resulted in under-development of the areas.
The local MLA has failed us on every front. We are yet to see any development in our village, Sajad Ahmad Dar a resident of Hajin told KNS.
Several Villages of Hajin belt are also lacking basic facilities especially electricity. Locals said that they have complained to concerned MLA couple of times but nothing has been done so far.
When contacted MLA Sonawari Mohammad Akbar Lone said if you want to write against me, go and write.
Which road are you talking about? The whole Sonawari has A1 full macadamized roads. You tell me what I have to do in Hajin. They dont face any inconvenience. I know who asked you to write this story, Lone told KNS.
The MLA added that as far as the power supply is concerned an MLA can do nothing in this regard. It is failure of government, he said.
