Srinagar A Joint team of Srinagar Municipal Committee, Lakes and Lake and Water Development Authority, Department of Floriculture and officials of JK CMs Grievance cell on Thursday conducted a cleanliness drive in Shalimar village and restored an age old pond in the area.
The cleanliness drive was launched after a delegation from Arabal village of Shalimar approached Coordinator of Chief Ministers Grievance Cell Tasaduq Mufti with the request to intervene in restoring an old pond in their locality which is very pathetic condition.
Taking cognisance, the Grievance cell constituted a team of officers and workers of SMC, LAWDA, of Floriculture and Grievance cell to take necessary action regarding the issue
AN official spokesperson said the team led by Liaison officer Imran Malik conducted a day-long cleanliness drive in the village and eviscerated all the pollutants from pond and made it clean again.
The team also organized an awareness camp regarding cleanliness of the pond and village, children and adults from the village in huge number participated the camp and also the cleanliness drive.
The residents of the village expressed their heartiest gratitude to Coordinator Grievance Cell, Tassaduq Mufti and the team constituted for the action taken so immediately. Meanwhile, Tassaduq Mufti also requested SMC and LAWDA to install dustbins and to identify dumping sites in the village so that future pollution can be prevented.
