SrinagarA service rifle of an on-duty paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan has gone missing at Alochi Bagh area of Srinagar on Monday.
Police sources said that CRPF man identified as Imran of 25 Battalion told police that he found his Insas rifle, some rounds and magazine missing while on duty at Bul Bul Bagh Bund in Aloochi Bagh.
The CRPF man was posted at Bul Bul Bagh bund for law and order duty in the wake of strike call today. He told police that he had gone to have lunch and after returning to his duty place, he found his service rifle missing, the sources said, adding that the paramilitary soldier is being questioned in this regard.
Sources said that they are looking into the claims of the CRPF man and the matter is being investigated from various angles as recently two incidents of weapon snatchings occurred in downtown Srinagar. The area also houses the residence of a top police officer. (GNS)
