Sopore—Sopore town of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district in northern part of Kashmir observed a complete shutdown for the 3rd consecutive day against the killing of militants commander Abdul Qayoom Najar.

“A complete shutdown was observed in the native area of the slain militant on third consecutive day. All business establishments and shops remained shut in the town while skeletal movement of traffic was observed on the roads,” reports said.

Authorities imposed restrictions in some parts of town, including main chowk, tehsil road, Batpora chowk and Chankhan area to prevent any untoward incident.

Believed to be the longest surviving militant commander of the valley, Najar was killed in a gunfight near the Line of Control (LoC) in Uri area of the district on Tuesday.
