Amar Singh College thump GDC Sumbal to progress further

Srinagar—All-round Amar Singh College thumped Government Degree College Sumbal by nine wickets in their Prof. Yousuf Memorial Inter College Cricket Cup played at Islamia College ground on Tuesday. The win takes Amar Singh College to next round of the tourney.

The game proved to be a lopsided tie with Amar Singh College showing their prowess against timid GDC Sumbal. Choosing to bat first, GDC Sumbal could manage only 120 in 25 overs. Javid Ahanger with 47 was the only substantial scorer helping his side to recover from the 20 for the loss of five wickets scoreline. It didn’t take much for Amar Singh College to overhaul the target reaching there in just 12 overs losing just a wicket only.  Asif Ramzan scored an undefeated 47 while Fazil contributed 43. Syed Rasool took the only wicket to have fallen in GDC Sumbal’s innings.

Earlier the teams were introduced to the chief guest Prof. Muzafar Ahmed Khan principal of the college. On Wednesday GDC Bijbhara will lock horns against GDC Ganderbal and on Thursday the host college will play against  GDC Baramulla .

The tournament is being organised by the department of Physical Education Islamia College Srinagar.
