SrinagarMilitants Monday hurled a grenade on government forces at Magam township on Srinagar-Gulmarg Road, resulting in injuries to three paramilitary CRPF men and a J&K police constable.
Sources said militants attacked a party of CRPF at Magam chowk in the afternoon by hurling the grenade which exploded with a loud bang.
Three CRPF and one police personnel sustained splinter injuries in the grenade attack and all of them were removed to the hospital, sources said.
Soon after the attack, large posse of police, Army and CRPF rushed to the spot and launched searches to track down the attackers.
Militant outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba claimed responsibility for the attack.
In a statement issued to news agency GNS, Lashkar-e-Taiba spokesman Dr Abdullah Ghaznavi congratulated the attackers for carrying out the attack despite stringent security arrangements and warned of similar attacks.
The attack came just a day before Independence Day and amid heightened security arrangements all across the Kashmir Valley.
