ShopianDistrict Development commissioner Shopian Mohammad Aijaz Friday conducted an extensive tour of the district and reviewed the progress of various ongoing developmental works/projects being executed in the district.
During the tour,DDC visited Sindoo Shirmal where 100 bedded capacity Gujjar & Bakerwal Hostel is being constructed. The DDC was accompanied by Executive Engineer R&B, Deputy General Manager JKPCC, and other senior officers of concerned departments. It was given out that the estimated cost for the construction of Gujjar & Bakerwal hostel is 3.25 crore and an amount of Rs 1.8 crore rupees has been released and out which 90 lacs has been spent on the construction till date.
While inspecting the ongoing work at the site, DDC gave special emphasis on the use of quality material. He also directed the executing agencies to expedite the pace of work and ensure that the project gets completed within stipulated period of time. He said that hostel will prove beneficial to the students of Gujjar and Bakerwal community who currently have to face many hardships while getting education. He further said that the hostel will come up with state of art infrastructure with all modern faciliies like Reading rooms, recreation room,indoor games facility, computer lab, library, internet facility etc so that the students may not face any difficulty.
The DDC also inspected ongoing development work going on construction of Khadi & Village Industrial Board office. It was given out that the said project is run on an estimated cost of Rs 69.76 lac. An amount of Rs 53 lacs has already been released and further Rs 40 lac have been spent on the said project. He took a detailed inspection of the building and directed the concerned to make every possible efforts to complete this building in a time bound manner so that people are benefited at the earliest.
Later on DDC inspected the ongoing construction work of Conference Hall in the Mini Secretariat which was earlier gutted down in a tragic fire incident. It was given out that the renovation of conference hall at the premises of Mini Secretariat is being run on an estimated cost of Rs 4.29 crore and out of which 1.6 crore has been spent till date. DDC said that the new conference hall will come up with state of art facility and further the work on Block B will started within 10 days. He directed JKPCC authorities to expedite the pace of work so that this project may get completed in shortest possible time.
