Dr. Baba takes charge as Librarian CUK


Srinagar—Dr. Abdul Majid Baba Tuesday took charge as Librarian at the Central University of Kashmir.

Dr. Baba held a detailed interaction with the staff members of Central Library on important matters pertaining to the functioning of the University Library System.

Dr. Baba has served University of Kashmir in various capacities like University Librarian, Allama Iqbal Library, Head Post Graduate Department of Library and Information Science etc.

Dr Baba has played a significant role in the development of Allama Iqbal Library and P.G. Department of Library and Information Science, University of Kashmir.

He has also been nominated by the Jammu and Kashmir Government in drafting the J&K Public Library Act. Dr. Baba has also been the member of academic and administrative bodies of various institutions at State/National/International level. Besides, he is the Governing Body Member of Indian Association of Special Libraries and Information Centres (IASLIC), Kolkatta and ex-Vice President Indian Library Association (ILA), New Delhi.

Recently, University Grants Commission (UGC) has nominated Dr. Baba as an expert member for Post-Doctoral Fellowship (PDF) and Emeritus Fellowship in the field of Library and Information Science in India.
