SrinagarA young Kashmiri student has been booked by police in Madhya Pradesh on charges of stoking tension with a pro-Pakistan Facebook comment after the teams Champions Trophy win over India last Sunday.
Police said reacting to the Facebook post of a minor boy in Gwalior, S Mudasir, a resident of Shopian district, commented: I am a Kashmiri and I like Pakistan. Pakistan Zindabad, The Hindustan Times reported on Sunday.
Mudasir is pursuing his post-graduation in Botany from Jiwaji University, Gwalior, and has gone home while waiting for the results of his final examination, report quoted police as saying.
The minor boy had congratulated Pakistan for the win on June 18 and expressed disappointment over Indias performance. Tensions rose after Mudasirs comment on the boys post, police added. A group of locals came hunting for the boy and attacked him on Friday, police said.
Police later registered a case against Mudasir and another person under section 153 of IPC on charges of wantonly giving provocation with intent to cause riot. Police also registered a case against a person for attacking the minor.
Gwalior (City) superintendent of police Shailendra Jadon said, Mudasirs comment created tension and created a riot-like situation. He will be arrested when he comes to collect his degree. If he doesnt come, a team will go to Shopian to arrest him, the HT report said.
Police said investigations showed Mudasir had earlier liked posts hailing slain militant Burhan Wani and shared posts related to Hizb-ul-Mujahideen on Facebook.
