Srinagar: Shawwal moon has been sighted and the Eid-ul-Fitr would be celebrated in Kashmir on Monday.
Pakistans central Ruet-i-Hilal Committee announced that Shawwal moon was sighted in most of the areas of the country and Eid-ul-Fitr would be celebrated tomorrow (Monday).
Shawwal moon has also been sighted in Indian cities of Lucknow and Hyderabad, according to Shahi Imam.
Eid was today celebrated in Persian Gulf Arab countries and Southeast Asia.
Eid-ul-Fitr is celebrated on first day of the Islamic month of Shawwal, marking the culmination of month-long Ramazan when Muslims fast from dawn to dusk.
Eid Namaz To Start at 10 AM
Special Eid al-Fitr prayers would be held at per programme at the historic Eidgah in Srinagar at 10:00 am, Anjuman-e-Auqaf Jamia Masjid announced Saturday. Prior to Eid prayer?s ?Mirwaiz Umar Farooq would shed light on the philosophy of Eid al-Fitr in his sermon from 9:00 am.
AAJ has urged the people to participate in the Ijtima in large numbers to express unity and maintain discipline and bring prayer mats along.
AAJ also announced that Zakat al-Fitr (Sadqa Fitr) for this year has been fixed at Rs 50 per person that is mandatory to be paid before Eid al-Fitr prayers.
In case of rains, the prayers would be held at Jama Masjid Srinagar, at the same time, AAJ said.
