SrinagarMinister for Education Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari on Thursday said that the state government is committed to provide full financial support for the development of Cluster University Jammu (CUJ) and Cluster University Srinagar (CUS) to make the universities fully functional.
This was stated by Bukhari during a review meeting of the functioning of CUJ and CUS and the constituent colleges of both universities which was attended by Commissioner Secretary Higher Education, Dr. Asghar Samoon, Vice Chancellors of CUJ, CUS and Director Colleges (Higher Education).
During the meeting, the release and utilization of funds under RUSA, CAPEX Plan and Revenue budget were discussed for the development of both universities.
The Minister deliberated upon the appointment of Controller of Examinations for both the universities.
In a separate meeting, the education minister reviewed the functioning of CUK and the achievements it made from its establishment since 2009.
The minister was informed that the central university Kashmir presently enrolls about 1700 students in 37 various courses and many 5-year integrated courses are being taught in the university.
On the occasion, the lease agreement was executed between government of Jammu and Kashmir and MHRD through VC CUK for land measuring 4024 Kanals at Tulmulla, Ganderbal for permanent campus of the central university.
