5 months on, Police yet to nab Pulwama burglars

Pulwama: From past five months a family visits a Police Station on daily basis with a hope that burglars will be apprehended and their stolen goods will be handed over to them.

For the construction of a residential house the family of Abdul Rehman Shergojri of Chekpora Newa village of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district had procured 60 quintals of iron and had dumped that in the premises of their old house.

In the first week of January this year, burglars in the middle of the night, not only looted the iron but also stole copper items worth lakhs from their shop adjacent to their house.

‘Police Station Pulwama in its FIR (15/2017) talks about the iron theft only and is silent about stolen copper items,” said a member of the victim family to CNS adding that though some culprits had been arrested by police in this regard but were released.

“All our pleas to expedite investigation have been going to deaf ears. Even we approached top police officials requesting them to urge upon the Investigating Officer to speed up the investigation, but nothing happened,” the family members said and alleged that police is not showing any interest to nab the burglars.

District Police Chief Mr Chowdary Muhammad Aslam said: “It is our duty to nab anti-social elements especially burglars. There would have been delay in tracing these thieves as you know we mostly remain busy in law and order problem. I assure the family the case will be solved without anymore delay now,” he said.
