Army Guns Down 2 Intruders on LOC in Uri

Srinagar: Army Friday said that it foiled an attack of Pakistan Border Action Team (BAT) along Line of Control in Uri sector of Baramulla district and killed two intruders.

Army’s 4 JAKLI noticed some suspicious movement at Khalana-G-nallah near Anil Post at Gulotha along LoC in Uri sector at around 8 am today. “The post is opposite to Pakistan’s 31 Baloch Regiment. On noticing the movement, army opened fire that resulted in killing of two persons whose bodies are lying at ‘no man’s land’,” police sources said.

According to an army spokesman, the two persons killed in the firing were intruders who were part of Pakistan’s Border Action Team. “At about 8.40 am in the morning, two armed intruders infiltrated in Uri Sector from close vicinity of a known Pakistan post and came close to Indian Army post about 500 meters inside own side of LC,” he said.

The Army said after a firefight, both intruders were neutralised by soldiers. “Two bodies, one AK 47 Rifles, one Pistol and warlike stores recovered,” the army said, adding that by gunning down the intruders it successfully repulsed BAT strike.

Meanwhile, official sources said that after receiving intelligence input about fresh infiltration last night, the army’s 15 RR, 1/3GR and 21 BSF launched massive searches in Bohri Pathar areas of Keran. The army suspects that a group of militants have managed to sneak into this part of Kashmir and are hiding in forests.
