Budgam: A real-estate businessman has allegedly grabbed 40 kanals of state land in Handal Bagh Karalpora area of Central Kashmirs Budgam district, locals claimed on Wednesday.
A delegation headed by some respectable citizens said the said businessman purchased 70 kanals of land at Handal Bagh that belonged to some Pandit families. The locals have no problem with this deal, but the irony is that adjacent to these 70 kanals of land is the state land comprising 40 kanals, that too have been occupied by the businessman, the delegation told news agency CNS.
We are shocked to learn how come this business man managed to get land documents from Revenue Department. We appeal to Crime Branch to take cognizance of the matter and initiate a probe in this regard. Truth will surface only after the thorough probe, they said.
The locals demanded proper demarcation of the land. They urged upon the government to retrieve the grabbed land at an earliest.
The said business man while refuting the allegations said the complainants have no credentials. Some people particularly an individual have some personal interests and we have already registered multiple cases against him, he said and added that the land owned by him is his legal property. (CNS)
