Baramulla: In the second successive year, the Army organised a Qirat Musabqa (competition) at Hamre on 25 May 2017 to strengthen the bond between the Awaam and the Army through the medium of Qirat.
The Competition commenced with a warm welcome extended to an encouraging crowd of over 650 by the Moulvi of the Garrison, Subedar Tahir Hafiz Rathore followed by Tilawat-e-Quran-e-Pak. 36 students participated from different Dar-ul-Ulooms and schools, impressing one and all with their knowledge, zeal and articulation. The Judges at the competition were renowned and respected ‘Qarees’ themselves and their guidance proved helpful to the young participants, presenting a great learning opportunity for all the young minds. Among the many learned and respectable guests who attended the event from civil and Army establishments were Maj Gen AK Singh, GOC Kilo Force and Commander Haiderbeg Camp. The General Officer praised the performance of all participants and presenting them with certificates of participation and gave away prizes to the winners.
Welcoming the initiative by the Army, the participants and the audience acknowledged that conduct of such an event just before the holy month of Ramzan was a reminder of the pious responsibilities of every individual.
