Food business operators fined for selling substandard items in Srinagar

Srinagar: Ten food business operators were fined over Rs two lakhs for safety violation by Adjudicating Officer during a market checking in summer capital today, an official spokesman said.

The erring food business operators were charged under Food Safety & Standards Act for manufacturing and selling substandard food items which include one milk processing unit and two spices manufacturing units.       

The Adjudication Officer, who is Assistant Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar, said that the market checking drive will be intensified to keep a check on profiteering, hoarding and black marketing.
