Pahalgam, Upper Reaches Receive Fresh Snowfall

Srinagar: The upper reaches in Kashmir Valley, including health resorts of Pahalgam and Sonmarg, received fresh snowfall since Saturday afternoon, resulting in considerable dip in the maximum temperature across the region.

A Met department spokesperson said that weather will remain wet during the next six days in Kashmir valley under the influence of a Western Disturbance (WD), which is action in the region.

Pahalgam, about 100 km from here in south Kashmir, received about an inch of fresh snow since this afternoon, resulting in considerable dip in the day temperature. The maximum temperature recorded in the health resort was 12 degree below normal.

Meanwhile, the upper reaches in Pahalgam, including Chandanwari also received fresh snowfall. Amarnath cave shine and its periphery, besides Sheshnag, Mahagung, Pisso top and Panjterni, also received light to moderate snowfall.

Sonmarg on Srinagar-Leh national highway, which remained closed since December last year due to accumulation of snow, received fresh snowfall.
Traffic on historic Mughal Road, which was opened earlier this week, after remaining closed for winter months, was again suspended as a precautionary measure due to snowfall at Peer Ki Gali.
