SRINAGAR: Basharat Ahmad was the star with the bat as Zewan Cricket Club edged past Al-Muqeet Cricket Club Pattan by a close margin of two runs in the league fixture of Budgam Premier League played at Shiekhpora Cricket Ground, Budgam on Wednesday.
Batting first, riding on Basharats 49 Zewan CC were able to post 118 for the loss of six wickets in the allotted 20 overs. In reply Al-Muqeet Pattan were bowled out for 116 falling short by two runs.
Basharat was declared man of the match.
In the second game of the day, FCC Falchil beat Safa Kadal XI comprehensively. Umar Ahmad was the star with both bat and ball as two wickets helped his side restrict Safa Kadal XI to a 137 for the loss of seven wickets in the allotted 20 overs. In reply FCC Falchil managed to chase down the target easily in the 19th over with Umar playing a crucial hand, scoring a brisk 28. He was declared man of the match for his all-round brilliance.
