AJKSU: We Are Looking For Stopping Activities

Keeping in view the present prevailing situation across Kashmir valley All J&K Students Union (AJKSU) has requested students to join classes after students held the massive protests against Pulwama incident. However, they appealed authorities to ensure the security of students and demanded release of all the arrested students.

Kashmir is not the only place where students clash with the police. Almost every place in the world has witnessed violence and vandalism from last few years. The way Kashmiri students were handled, has saddened us, the student body said in a press statement

“Education in Kashmir has already suffered a lot, now authorities should make sure that they would release students and students should join classes to prevent further loss to precious educational session,” the statement said. “It is because of these incidents there is deep political alienation among youth of Kashmir.”

Asking the government to revoke all FIRs against students, AJKSU has clarified that the body has no direct or indirect affiliation with any political—mainstream or otherwise, or any religious organisation.

Many AJKSU members were reportedly threatened and their families summoned by various security agencies from the last couple of days. “Keeping in view all these things, we are looking for stopping all the activities,” the body said. “We are sandwiched between the government authorities and some people. We’re living distressful life, as they suspect something wrong is going on. Our spokesperson has been threatened with consequences if he did not stop working. We request everyone not to pay any heed to rumours. We are just students and concerned only with student-related issues.”

The statement said AJKSU was founded with the intention to address student related problems. “Since the establishment of this organisation we only addressed and tried to solve the student related problems both in Kashmir and in other states of India. Till date what AJKSU have done for students of Jammu and Kashmir is an open truth.”

The recent protest call was given by Kashmir University Students Union ( KUSU) and AJKSU supported it for the Pulwama Degree College incident. (KNS)
