Use Bullets Against Stone-pelters: Minister

Srinagar:  Industries Minister in the PDP-BJP coalition government Chander Prakash Ganga has called for shooting of Kashmiri youth who engage security forces with stones saying ‘stone-pelters are traitors’ and should be dealt with bullets.

“They are the traitors. Whether they live in the country or come from Pakistan, they can only be treated by bullets. If bullets are not there at least they should be punished, like beating them by canes. Mark my words and see whether they will pelt stones again. What ‘azaadi’ are they demanding?” Ganga is seen saying in a video clip that has gone viral on social networking sites.

Ganga, who is a BJP MLA from Jammu, also suggested that the stone-pelters be hit with shoes.

“Did you see the video in which the youth are raising anti-Pakistan slogans?” Minister asked. “Laatoon kay boot baatooun sey nahi mantay…inka ilaaj jotay hai. Till these people are handled in a right way they won’t give up their evil acts. Once they are taught a lesson only then will they fall in line,” the Minister is seen telling his supporters.

Ganga’s outburst comes at a time when security agencies and the police have been directed by the State Cabinet to exercise as much self-control as possible in order to prevent loss of human lives in the Valley.

At least nine protesters have been shot dead and hundreds injured since April 9 in the Kashmir Valley but unrest refuses to die down with students now out in the streets protesting the government highhandedness.
