Ikhwani Rashid Billa, Public Prosecutor Shot Dead


Srinagar: Militants on Sunday evening shot dead a notorious government backed gunman Abdul Rashid Parray alias Billa at Hajin area of north Kashmir’s Bandipore district.


Official sources said that Parray, who led Ikhwan counter insurgency group in his area during nineties, was fired upon by a group of suspected militants near his residential house at Hajin at around 10:20 pm.


Parray was immediately rushed to the nearby hospital where doctors declared him brought dead, they said.


Parray was wanted in connection with a number of murder cases including massacre of seven civilians at Saderkote in Bandipore in 1996.


J&K High Court had directed police to produce Parray in connection with the massacre but police had been insisting that he was absconding.


The High Court had passed the directions on a petition filed by the kin of the civilians belonging to three families and include women and children.


The petition had sought investigation to be completed in FIR 125/1996 registered in concerned police station. 




Ex Public Prosecutor shot dead 


Unknown gunmen on Sunday evening shot dead a former public prosecutor at Pinjoora area of Shopian district in south Kashmir.


Official sources said that the gunmen fired upon the former public prosecutor Imtiyaz Ahmad Khan outside his home.


A police official while confirming the incident said that Khan was fired upon soon after he came out from the local masjid after offering Isha prayers.


Khan was rushed to nearby hospital where doctors declared him brought dead, the officer said.
