Polls Only Disturb Peace Here: Hurriyat

Srinagar: The ‘Resistance Leadership’ comprising of Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Mohammad Yasin Malik on Thursday criticized authorities for holding elections amidst crackdown and military deployment and said that “it is a slur on the democracy.”

Lamenting at state administration, resistance leaders in a statement issued said: “The authorities are deliberately adding fuel to fire and vitiating prevailing atmosphere. Re-poling in Budgam and rescheduling polls in Islamabad (Anantnag) constituency is just to disturb the routine life and school education.”

Resistance leaders asked Delhi and its “henchmen to stop these flop shows as these foolish moves were proving a nuisance and a reason for continuous bloodshed.”

Pro-freedom leadership asked authorities to accept reality and shun their egoistic approach. Right to self-determination is a viable and acceptable solution to vexed problem, said they and it will pave way for political stability in the region. Leaders welcomed the statement of Anjumam -e- Sheir-e- Shiayan and said that proposed people’s congregation on Friday in Budgam will send a message and participants will offer their tributes to martyrs.
