Dal Dwellers Seek Rehabilitation

Srinagar: Dal Dwellers Thursday alleged that Government has been doing nothing to mitigate their sufferings.

“For years we have been awaiting proper land allotment for rehabilitation and compensation for the houses destroyed in 2014 floods, but year on year, we face new hurdles. We are still running from pillar to post to get our demands met,” they said.

They said that during the survey, 166 houses were identified and government had promised to award compensation to the owners of those destroyed houses.

“Even after identification nothing was done. Neither we are compensated nor are we allowed to repair our houses. This is injustice and we are here to protest seeking justice.

The Deputy Chief Minister had assured us several times that our demands will be met but nothing has happened on ground,” the Dal dwellers said.
