Srinagar: Amidst surge in militant attacks in Valley, paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) on Tuesday said that it will ensure best security arrangements for upcoming bye elections for Srinagar and Anantnag Lok Sabha constituencies.
Special DG, CRPF, S N Srivastava told media persons here the scale up in the militant activities was always expected. We had already known that such a thing will happen. We are always up to the challenge we will ensure that the security arrangements for elections are as best as possible, he said.
The Special DG was speaking to reporters on the sidelines of wreath laying ceremony of slain CRPF man who lost his life yesterday in a militant ambush at Pantha Chowk in Srinagar. He said that the CRPF is trying best to stop continued attacks on convoys.
The security forces together deploy ROPs and follow all rules and guideline according to the SOPs, he said, adding that the convoy movement takes place every day and it is the result of these security forces that we safeguard the movement of the forces personnel. The senior officers and jawans are on their duty points and we are doing whatever best we can, the Special DG added.
He said that CRPF is trying to stop the militant activities wherever they are taking place in Srinagar city. We have been successful to a great extent, said the Special DG, adding that they are alert and trying to stop these activities.
