59 Absent Employees Suspended

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Government today suspended 59 employes of different departtments for remaining absent from duty in south Kashmir district of Shopian, an official spokesman said this evening.

They said under the instructions of the Deputy Commissioner Shopian, a team headed by Assistant Commissioner (AC) Shopian, Nisar Ahmad Shad, today conducted a surprise visit of various government departments operating in the district to inspect their functioning.

During the inspection, the AC Shopian found 59 employees from government departments unauthorizedly absent from their duties.

The absentees were placed under suspension and it was said that disciplinary action as enshrined in law would be taken against them.

  Mr Shad said that the culture of absenteeism will not be tolerated and directed the officials to be diligent so that works in offices do not suffer.
