Panic in Kokernag as MLA’s Guards Open Fire

Srinagar: Panic gripped Kokernag area in south Kashmir district of Anantnag when security guards of local Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) opened fire late last night, official sources said here.

 

They said guards posted at the residence of MLA Kokernag Abdul Rahim Rather opened fire in the air when there was suspicious movement late last night.

 

Later additional security forces were rushed and search operation was conducted in the entire area.

 

Panic gripped as people mistaking it an encounter between militants and security forces. No one was injured in the incident.

 

There were a number of rifle snatching incident from police guards in south Kashmir during the past few months.
