Students block Sonamarg highway to protest ‘non-availability’ of teaching staff

Ganderbal: The students of the Government Higher Secondary School Gund in Kangan area of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Saturday held a protest demonstration against the “non-availability” of the teaching staff in the school.

They said their studies were affected by the non-availability of teachers.

The students, mostly from class 11th and 12th, of Arts, Medical and Non medical streams also blocked the Srinagar -Sonamarg road at Gund to demand immediate posting of the lecturers.

The protesting students said that they haven’t studied a single chapter in some subjects yet.

Tehsildar Gund Firdous Qadri along with SHO Gund Khurshid Ahmed assured the protesting students that the matter would be taken up with the concerned officials for early redressal, however the students continued with their protest.
