‘Demands of MGNREGA staff to be fulfilled once MCC will be over’

Srinagar: Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Abdul Haq Monday said that all the issues and apprehensions of the staff working under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) in Jammu and Kashmir will be resolved once the Model Code of Conduct will be over.

Pertinently, staff working under MGNREGA is on strike as they demand the redressal of their multiple issues. They demand regularization of their services, delegation of powers, basic salary with other allowances.

Talking to news agency CNS, Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Abdul Haq said that the Ministry has already completed all the formalities and the file related to these employees has been completed. “Due to Code of Conduct in force, the Ministry can’t implement the orders. Once the Model Code of Conduct will be over, we will issue the orders and will fulfil all the demands of MGNREGA staff,” he said.

“I appeal all the staff to call off their strike. They should wait till Model Code of Conduct is there. I personally assure them that their demands will be fulfilled,” the Minister added. (CNS)
