Imran Returns, Sticks To Resignation

SRINAGAR: Influential Shia leader and senior PDP member, Imran Raza Ansari has returned from Iran and Iraq tour,

Ansari is Minister for Technical Education Youth Services and Sports in the PDP-BJP government but resigned after he was not allotted “more influential” portfolio in last cabinet reshuffle.

Talking to KNS after his return from Iran and Iraq after a gap of over one month, Imran Ansari said, “I stick to my resignation and will go to the people of my constituency and talk to them”.

It may be recalled here that Imran Ansari after redistribution of portfolios among some ministers on February 12 had submitted his resignation to Chief Minister Mehbooba and left for Iran and Iraq on religious tour.

He had resigned from the ministry along with Syed Basharat Bukhari, however, he later joined the new ministry after being removed of Revenue and Rehabilitation portfolios.

Pertinently, Ansari’s uncle and MLA Zadibal Abid Ansari had in several interactions with media said, “PDP leadership has not fulfilled its promise of giving a significant portfolio to Imran Ansari and unless and until the party does not fulfil its promise Imran Ansari won’t withdraw his resignation.”

However, Ansari while questioning the role of Naeem Akhtar in the PDP part of the cabinet had vowed to work for the party to carry forward what he called “unfinished agenda” of late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed the two time former Chief Minister and PDP founder.
