Jailed ML Leader’s Mother Passes Away

SRINAGAR: The mother of incarcerated Muslim League (ML) General Secretary, Muhammad Rafiq Ganie, Saja Begum passed away on Saturday.

Saja was 75 and breathed her last at her home at Tailwani area of Achabal. She was suffering from life threatening disease of cancer.

Meanwhile, Saja’s son, Rafiq continued to languish in Kot Bhalwal jail in Jammu for last seven months.

He was arrested during 2016 uprising in the Valley. (KNS)

Geelani Grieved

Hurriyat patriarch Syed Ali Geelani expressed his deep grief over the demise of mother of incarcerated leader of Muslim League, Mohammad Rafiq Ganai.

Praying for the departed soul, Geelani criticised state authorities for their “apathetic approach”. “They refused to release him and consequently (Rafiq) couldn’t attend last rites of her mother”.

Geelani while extending his condolences prayed for the bereaved family to bear this loss.
