JAMMU: The State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) has taken Suo-Moto cognizance of the death of a Lineman in Srinagar on Sunday and has directed the Chief Engineer PDD to file a detailed report regarding the incident by Friday, March 10 at Srinagar.
A Lineman who was engaged by a contractor on behalf of Power Development Department (PDD) was electrocuted in shocking circumstances while another person was injured in the incident.
Chairperson SHRC, Justice Bilal Nazki and member Jang Bahadur Singh Jamwal also directed the Chief Engineer to pay an amount of Rs 1 Lakh to the family of the deceased before the next date of hearing as an interim relief and has also directed Chief Engineer to bear all the expenses on the treatment of the labourer who is in the hospital.
