SRINAGAR: Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan, on Friday convened a meeting to review the traffic management plan for Srinagar city.
Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Senior officers of Police and CRPF, Commissioner SMC, RTO, SSP Traffic Srinagar, officials from ERA, PDD, R&B and other concerned officials attended the meeting.
The meeting discussed various measures which would help in better regulation of traffic movement in the city in view of the heavy traffic flow during shifting of darbar to Srinagar which usually causes massive traffic jams.
During the meeting, the Divisional Commissioner stressed for strict implementation of traffic rules and directed the concerned to intensify drive against illegally parked vehicles and other offenders.
He directed for formulation of effective traffic management plan to ensure smooth flow of traffic on busy Batamaloo, Moominabad, Tatoo Ground, Rambagh roads and other areas within a weeks time.
He also directed the PDD and R&B officials to remove any electric poles which are hindering smooth regulation of traffic and carry out immediate repair and patching of roads and potholes.
Baseer Khan called for synergized efforts in implementation of traffic management plan for the convenience of people and also sought cooperation of general public in this regard.
He directed the SMC Commissioner to carry out beautification works of all bus stops along with a traffic police beats in the city, besides installation of street lights and repair of all defunct traffic lights at the earliest.
