Masarat sent to jail on fresh judicial remand

Srinagar: Senior incarcerated Hurriyat Conference (G) leader and Muslim League chairman, Masarat Alam was sent too jail on fresh judicial remand till March 11 by a Bandipora  court.

On Monday, the court had ordered suspension of his bail granted by the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) in connection with 2015 case.

Alam was produced before a Court in Bandipora in a case FIR Number 53/2015 U/S 13 Unlawful Activities Act lodged against him at police station Sumbal.

The court remanded him to judicial custody till March 11 by Judicial Magistrate Bandipora. 

Masarat was arrested on October 2010, after spearheading the people’s 2010 uprising.

He was released in April 2015 however, arrested only after 40 days.
