SRINAGAR: Sharply reacting to the report prepared by Union ministry of home affairs as how to contain situation in Kashmir, a Kashmir civil society pressure group, Kashmir Centre For Social and Developmental Studies (KCSDS) on Thursday while dismissing the report said that it deserves for once again giving a recipe to its agencies for manipulating human beings like cattle class, for managing perceptions as a conscious deceitful effort of confusing and confounding citizens with obfuscation and clever manipulation to keep them in line and awarding those who presided over death and devastation in the recent revolt.
Looking at it from what has been done so far in Kashmir to douse the rising flames of resistance against the dominant state, there is nothing new that they have not tried before but were met with utter defeat and frustration. People here have kept the military of the largest democracy, its economic power and its intelligence agencies ever on alert and blunted its manipulations for decades because the acceptability of resistance movement flows from its credibility as a reflector of public conscience. It is this sacred source that has sustained its articulation and mobilization against the heaviest odds and could never be finished unless you listen to it and restore what has been taken away from citizenry for the greater good of all sides, KCSDS in a statement to CNS said.
What is new in this report is an open unashamed and blatantly authoritarian declaration of using various forms of force, dividing the monolithic narrative of Kashmir into various groups like Shias and Bakerwallas by offering them economic incentives to rope them in and using Molvis of Masjids to quell insurgency as if it were an epidemic of malaria and not a struggle for legitimate rights. MHA will be surprised to know that 2016 made people fearless of your force and united all sections as never before. All the past efforts of government to intensify divisions within the community went down the drain. Besides, traditional Molvis and imams have never been given any political role in Masjids. The political speeches are given by political activists and Molvis will never be heard against political aspirations, it added.
The civil society group further said, they would never dare to dissuade people from their political cause. Army has used some of them before also by taking them for all India tours to train them for this job. But to their utter dismay they joined public movement in the recent revolt as it finds resonance in their hearts. The statements have already come from religious leaders condemning this policy in the harshest terms. Through this statement we also caution all the Imams and Molvis to be on guard against being covertly used by the state agencies as it is now an open deceitful operation to make them complicit in the dirty immoral act!
